The companion Kamaratna Tantra is a rare treatise on the tantric cult of Assam, edited by the eminent Assamese scholar Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Tattabhusan and published under the orders of the Government of Assam in 1928. Presented in the Assamese version of the Sanskrit original with a parallel English translation and accompanied by numerous mystical diagrams (yantras), it is a vivid manual of applied Tantra. Its chapters range across the determination of auspicious times by tithis, yogas, and nakshatras, the correct methods of collecting herbs and plants, and a broad catalogue of ritual aims — attraction and subduing, the winning of good fortune, the pacification of anger, the controlling of elephants and tigers, and many other practical applications of mantra and mystical diagram.
