Fine Art Reproduction Print (Himachali Miniature, Gouache on Paper)
Artist / Date: India | Himachal / Chamba Tradition
Key Features
This rare and meditative composition presents the Kundalini Satchakra-a traditional Tantric depiction of the subtle body and its system of energy centers, rendered in the refined Himachali miniature style. A serene yogi is portrayed seated in cross-legged meditation, hands raised in receptive gesture, his eyes gently closed in deep inward absorption as the sacred anatomy of the chakras is mapped along the central axis of his body.
Rising vertically along the spinal column, the six chakras (satchakra) are depicted as blossoming lotuses, each rendered in its distinctive color and petal count, and each inscribed with the Sanskrit seed-syllables (bija mantras) that correspond to its vibration. Within each lotus resides its presiding deity-Ganesha at the root Muladhara, Brahma at the Svadhisthana, Narayana at the Manipura, Shankara at the Anahata, and the higher deities ascending toward the crown-illustrating the traditional Tantric understanding of the divine forces that govern each center of consciousness.
At the crown of the head blossoms the thousand-petaled Sahasrara lotus, within which the union of Shiva and Shakti is depicted-the ultimate goal of Kundalini yoga, where the awakened serpent energy rising from the base finally merges with pure consciousness. The three principal nadis-Ida, Pingala, and the central Sushumna-are traced along the body, mapping the channels through which subtle energy flows.
Framed by a delicate floral border of roses and vines characteristic of the Himachali and Chamba schools, and inscribed with its title in Devanagari, this painting serves as both a devotional artwork and a sacred yogic diagram. It offers a rare and beautifully preserved window into the esoteric traditions of Tantric yoga, where the human body itself becomes the map of the cosmos and the path to liberation.
